Here's a heads up. People are already trying to sell bulk Festival Prizes, saying that each opening gives you a chance at 1k. Which it would, normally. But it is possible to determine which ones give you the 1k before opening, and filter those out from the rest. I have reason to believe that there are some sellers (at least 2 to my knowledge) who are doing this, and selling off only the rest.

It is indeed possible. I'm not sure if I should divulge it, in case I'd make the situation worse. That can be the mods' call. Or I can disclose it to a moderator privately and they can back me up on it.

I wouldn't doubt that someone figured out the pattern. It probably has more to do with the order they are dropped or something. Random numbers in GW are really a stretch at being called random (even considering computers don't do true random numbers).

I heard an idea, and it could also be used to filter out rice cakes, and orbs. That is sololy determinded if a stack of 250 is not random, but set to each one having an individual amount, but i suppose if it random you could just do the exploit till you got 250k.

I've found that when my inventory was full and I double-click the present...if it didn't give me the plat, I knew it was one of the others...but I did open all my presents anyway...

I guess you could remove a present to storage...lather, rinse, repeat until you've found which are, and which aren't, plat...

I got 1k back to back and the remaing 50 nothing but orbs/wine/cake.
If that's not random, i don't know what is.

I guess some people missed it. One of the ways they are talking about is not a bug but just the way it works (I would not post a bug on here). You have to have inventory space in order to open a package containing an item (the item - orbs, wine, cakes - have to go somewhere), but not for a package containing gold (which goes to your goild count).

Therefore, by moving things around (you can figure that part out on your own), you can end up with a stack of gifts guaranteed NOT to be gold, while keeping all the gold in the gifts you obtained for yourself.

Once you have these gifts left you can sell them to others, who will be thinking they have an equal chance as everyone else of getting gold out of them, when in fact they all have itmes (bean cakse, orbs, or wine).

Again, this is not a bug, it's just the way it works. It's pretty lame to do it, but its a side-effect of having the items in the gifts pre-determined as opposed to being determined upon opening.

If that's not clear enough, then you shouldn't worry about it anyways. I recommend not buying gifts from anyone, though.

The same thing applies when you are salvaging items in your inventory. You have to have room for the salvage or it doesn't let you salvage it. Think the same way about gifts.

EDIT: Also, thx go out to the OP for trying to warn peop-le without spilling to much originally. For others, just because you can't figure it out, doesn't mean someone else can't. MD5 was around for quite some time before someone figured out how to generate collisions. Some people are just smarter than others. I would've never figured this one out myself either (nev er even thought about it). However, I do take warnings of scams pretty serious and use them as a guide to keep from getting scammed.

pen and paper ftw :-) I usually play other computer rpgs with ppl I know (Dungeon Siege, NWN, etc). GW was too good to pass up (MMOs aren't an option so no WoW or EVE Online, etc) and I enjoy it, but yeah there are lots of scammers. Unfortunately it clouds the non-scammers. I like the forums because ppl alert on scammers and I let the rest of my guild/alliance know. This is a good example.

Actually no.

People in real life aern't like this. We have welfare, we have charities, we have subsidized medical services, we have help groups all in real life. All these people helping out other people they don't even know. Bill Gates donates millions every year to charities.

Inside GW, even the rich refuse to hand over 50g to help newbies open up storage space.

Which is a good thing. While all the real-life assholes are distracted by Guild Wars, we are free to roam the real world.

yeah im so impressed at the cool way people lose their temper and swear at the emperor and then go on to swear at anyone who dares to stand near them when presents are dropping.

wonder how many people realised it was really nice and sunny this weekend if you went outside
